I have decided I'm going to have a blog series called Iowa vs. Iowa State to see what school is actually better... I'm not partial at all :)

I think that since I am the only daughter that attended both schools that I will be the best judge in picking the better school.

I feel like the only thing I did all weekend was homework and I'm still not done with it!

Due tomorrow I have to read the whole Iowa Core Curriculum of Mathematics.

Some light reading... it's only 120 pages

And the thing is, it doesn't go into effect until 2012, so not only am I learning about it now, but I will also have to learn it again when the rest of the state is learning it.

Bah, on the bright side, I won't have to print it off again?

So on Friday night I went out for FAC (friday after class) with my roommates, kelsey and a couple other people.

And the highlight of my night was....
for those of you who do not know who that is... it's Ricky Stanzi
and for those of you who don't know who that is (Kelsey, Kaci, Mom, Abby)... he is the quarterback at Iowa.

Ashley was still glowing an hour after the picture was taken.

Also, Kelsey had no idea who he was, and as she was taking the picture, I wanted to tell him, but I didn't.

Tomorrow I begin my practicum (at 8am), which is a nice way to say, sit in a classroom and watch a teacher for 8 hours a week.

For this 3 semester hour pass/fail class I am in a classroom on Monday/Wednesday/Fridays from 8-10:30, and have class on Tuesday/Thursdays from 8-10:30

So starting tomorrow and for the remainder of the semester I will be in class 27.5 hours a week (I am only taking 16 semester hours)

I am really excited to start this, but it is a super lot of work.

I feel like the only things I ever do are class, work, sleep, and repeat.

4:30 - Go Christmas/dress shopping because my roommates told me that I am not allowed to be in my apt for a super surprise or secret surprise or something like that. If I am unsuccessful in finding a dress, I am going to be really sad :(
9:00 - Homework or TV or something like that
10:30 - Try really hard to stay up
11:00 - Try even harder to still be awake
11:30 - Start getting excited
Midnight - Go to a bar and take my first shot
12:10 - Buy my first bottle of liquor
12:20 - Go to sleep

there is a math equation to determine the day of the week you were born?

f = D + [((13*M)-1)/5] + Y + [Y/4] + [C/4] - 2*C (mod 7)

d = the day of the month (30th for me)
m = the month number, 1 corresponds to march because of the leap year (11 for me)
y = the year, if in January or February subtract 1 (87 for me)
c = century (19 for all of us)

f = 30 + [28.4] + 87 + [21.75] + [4.75] - 38 (mod 7)
[x] = drop the decimal
f = 30 + 28 + 87 + 21 + 4 - 38 (mod 7)
f = 131 (mod 7)
(mod 7) is a fancy way to say remainder when dividing by 7 (7 days in a week)

132/7 = 18 remainder 6

0 = Sunday
1 = Monday
2 = Tuesday
3 = Wednesday
4 = Thursday
5 = Friday
6 = Saturday

16 random things about yours truly:)

1. I am truly excited about becoming a teacher. It just kind of hit me one day that this is something I can enjoy for the rest of my life. I hope that I will never just go through the motions.

2. I have a fear that I won't get a job when I graduate.

3. I can solve a Rubik's and have completed the expert level of Minesweeper in 96 seconds, but neither of these things seem too amazing to me. Other people think it is cool, but that is just how my brain works.

4. I am deathly afraid of heights. This fear developed recently because growing up I would do anything. Example: doing back tucks off of the picnic table. How stupid!

5. I love random facts. I love telling people random things that they don't care about. Right now I am telling lots of people about Matt Cassel, but nobody really cares about his story. Unless you do, then I will tell you.

6. Secretly, I wish that Iowa would play SEC style football. Nonetheless, I will always be a Hawkeye.

7. I once passed out at work at 6am. When I woke 10 minutes later a huge piece of the desk was missing and I had two giant bumps on my head (one from the desk, one from the ground)

8. I hate everything about the winter. Everything.

9. I am really bad at mental math.

10. Sometimes I have to stop myself from putting too many smiley faces in one text message. After using one, it looks tacky:)

11. I have never been out of the country, yet I have a passport.

12. I think I eat something with chocolate in it everyday.

13. I think being an author would be one of the coolest professions. Sadly, I am not a good writer.

14. If somebody is using incorrect grammar, my first instinct is to correct them. So many people don't know the different between good and well and it drives me crazy.

15. I was once told that I have never seen a good movie, but I beg to differ.

16. I have discovered so much music that I love on Pandora.

So it's 2:30am, I am working and I decided that I could start a blog. This was decided, well because everybody else in my family has one.

I can't really do anything cool to my blog right now because at work they make it so firefox or internet explorer cannot be opened. Somebody (not me) figured out that we can open a webpage through excel and the high ups have yet to (1)figure it out or (2)figured out how to stop us.

I get off of work at 4. I have class at 8. booooooo.
